The Scott and White Hospice Thrift Store held their 6th Annual Half-Price Christmas Party in Belton on December 4, 2015.

“Thought the half-price event would be a fun community give-back. This is a kind of reward or thank you to all the people who are so generous to us all year long and it is something we can do for them so they can all have Christmas. I utilize everybody for three hours and put everything in the store fifty percent off just for today. We have cookies and punch and free photos with Santa. For my staff, I make them a big spaghetti and meatball meal so we can all enjoy each other’s company and raise funds for our patients,” said Store Manager Susan Robinson.

According to sw.org, Scott & White Hospice is a non-profit, hospital-sponsored Hospice program. Staff provide services throughout a nine-county area surrounding Temple, Texas, delivering compassionate, quality care to adults, children and infants — and also their families — to enhance the quality of life for individuals no longer responding to cure-oriented treatment.

“This benefits our Scott and White Hospice patients. If they need an extra sweater or anything we can provide it for them. This is the main event once a year. They have thought about doing it also just before the start of the new school year. We go through the quality to make sure the merchandise is in good used condition. You just cannot go wrong,” said Post-Acute Care Chief Nursing Officer Robert Pisciota.

Since 2010, the store receives donations from the community to include clothing, shoes, purses, bags, ties, jewelry and household items such as toys, books, lamps, electronics, and dishes. Residents of Belton and the surrounding communities responded to the event by showing their support once again. The employees of the store were kept continuously busy throughout the night as customers filled the store.

“It’s the fifty percent off and the money goes out to help the people on Hospice that keeps me coming back here. These people that work here; they are just wonderful. We have been knowing them since they were located off of Central Ave. This event is just awesome,” said Martha Trevino of Belton.

The Scott and White Hospice Thrift Store offers customers a great opportunity to Christmas shop on a tight budget while giving back to the community in the process.

The store is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. seven days a week. Closed major holidays.
