Art & Wine on the Square benefits downtown

Art and Wine on the Square, hosted by Belton’s downtown Historic Bell County Courthouse Square, showcased local artists and wineries April 30. Stephanie Kiser, Brandon Luna, Lori L. Lamb, Pat Clymer, Robert Ruiz, Belinda Walker, Irene Guzman, Jenna Dannell, Isaac Barnhill, Arie Davis, Kateland Pricek, April Johnson, Gabyee De La Cruz, and James Romero were among the artists displaying their work during the festival.

“I am an artist who enjoys oil painting in my home studio, and outdoors, whenever I can. I am a lifelong student, trying to learn from others so that I can continue to grow. My paintings include animals, landscapes, still-life and figures,” said Lori L. Lamb, according to her personal blog.

Twenty dollar tickets were available for purchase that included six wine tastings from a variety of different wineries to include Austin Custom Winery, Piot Knob Vineyard & Winery, Fly Gap Winery, Joseph Carr Winery, and Eppa Winery. A custom wine glass was also included with purchased tickets.

Live musicians provided the soothing atmosphere to help complete the afternoon entertainment. The sounds of Singer and songwriter Chris Austin Martinez of College Station, Texas, Country boy Michael Carubelli of Killeen, Texas, and Singer and Songwriter Katie Stewart of Waco, Texas could be heard echoing throughout the square.

New this year for the festival; calling ALL ARTISTS! The Art Place is doing a benefit for the Historic Downtown Belton.

“This is a community benefit for historic downtown Belton. Individuals, you do not have to be a professional artist, purchase a canvas for $5.00 deposit and they create their own creation. Sometime between now and August they return their finished canvas to The Art Place off of Lake Rd. They then get their $5.00 deposit back. They then give us their permission to sell their finished canvas in the fall festival for $20 each and that money goes toward benefiting historic downtown Belton,” said Belton Mayor Marion Grayson.

The Art Place also offered “Make and Take Art” classes. The classes provided kids and adults the opportunity to take home their created artworks.
